Car Stereo Project II
Probably the last post of the year, and better to end on something short and fun instead of a rant about Kubernetes StatefulSets, or something. I found a good deal on a 2DIN “Carrozzeria” car stereo - minidisc, of course. Carrozzeria being Pioneer’s car-audio brand.

The original model wasn’t perfect. This model isn’t either. But they’re both parametric-ish. So this was mostly a job around scaling things and cleaning up the bits that didn’t fall in the right place. Strictly speaking, the carrozzeria didn’t require a new bezel (the original is fine), but I wanted it to match the 1DIN project.
Unlike the 1DIN Sony, there’s a lack of RCA input, but it does have a built-in CD player and comes with a dinky remote powered by a CR2023.
Wire colours are largely the same. Red and yellow to +12v, black to -12v. White and striped white are Left positive/negative. Grey and grey striped are Right positive/negative. There’s two more sets for the rear speaker channels, although again I’ve not connected them.

Future plans
None! There’s a part of me that wants to turn the model into something that could be made with sheet metal (it is just a box with some holes, after all). Rebuilding it in walnut would be nice, but I don’t think it would match the aesthetics of the carrozzeria. Minor changes might be worth making - I haven’t exposed the RCA outputs, which would make it a nice desk seperate. But I have an MDX-9 on my desk that needs to be stipped, cleaned, and re-lubricated. So that’s probably first.
Merry Christmas
